JYAC welcomes CSR travellers for the 2025 season

On behalf of Martu, JYAC welcomes travellers on Yiwarta Kuju (Canning Stock Route) for the 2025 season.

JYAC wants to remind tourists that conditions north of Kunawarritji are still uncertain.

People travel at their own risk, so please do your research, make informed decisions, and keep an eye on the weather.

If you’re unsure, you can leave the track at Well 33 and head west to Punmu — it’s an equally beautiful drive!

Stores at Kunawarritji and Punmu are both open for you to buy fuel and food.

For more information, or to apply for a permit, see the Kuju Wangka website.

Kuju Wangka is a working group focused on promoting and preserving cultural heritage and environmental values, and supporting Traditional Owners to develop tourism and economic growth opportunities along the CSR.

The Canning Stock Route runs through the Tjurabalan, Ngurrara, Martu, Birriliburu and Wiluna native title determination areas. Traditional Owners have been living continuously in this area for 50,000 years, and hold very detailed knowledge of country.

When you purchase a permit, you’re supporting Traditional Owners to look after Country, teach their children about culture, and pursue economic development opportunities.

For the most up-to-date information about weather and other travel conditions, we also recommend joining the CSR Facebook group.
