JYAC AGM 2024: Help decide Martu’s future

The JYAC AGM will be held on Thursday, 7 November 2024, in Parnngurr.

This will be followed by a common law holders meeting on the same day.

Meetings are where Martu make decisions about JYAC’s work.

Please join us and help decide Martu’s future.

Families are welcome, and there will be lots for kids to do!

Travel options

Get a bus to Parnngurr  

Buses to Parnngurr will be available at the following pick-up points: 

  • Newman / Jigalong
  • Fitzroy Crossing / Bidyadanga 
  • South Hedland / Strelley / Warralong turn off / Marble Bar
  • Punmu 
  • Looma, Kunawarritji and Nullagine

Communities with their own buses can make arrangements with JYAC for fuel to travel to/ from pick up points.

Fuel reimbursement  

No fuel can be provided before the meeting, but will be provided to get home.

Each member (not living at Parnngurr) who drives a car to attend will be able to be reimbursed for up to $400 for fuel by providing a dated receipt. Reimbursements will be processed the week after the AGM.

Each member who drives their own car to Parnngurr and travels more than 400km from home will receive a full tank (up to $400) of fuel at Parnngurr PLUS a $250 fuel purchase order at Marble Bar, Nullagine, Port Hedland, Newman or Sandfire.

Car registration (at the meeting) and member’s home address will be required. 

Meals and food vouchers  

JYAC will cater the following meals:

  • Wednesday 6 November: BBQ dinner
  • Thursday 7 November: Breakfast, lunch and dinner 

Each member who attends will receive a $150 voucher after the meeting to cover meals for your trip home. 

Accommodation  

  • JYAC will provide limited donga rooms for elderly Martu. Please contact JYAC to let us know you’re coming, so that we can confirm whether there is a room available for you. 
  • Other members will need to make their own arrangements for accommodation, swags or camping gear
  • Shared toilets, no showers at the meeting place
  • Limited medical facilities, shade & other services – members need to be prepared
